About Team Kaylee
Our story began in 2021 when the Mallia Brothers founded the Team Kaylee Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in Long Island, NY, after their daughter and niece, Kaylee, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) at the age of 4. Since then, our mission has been to empower families impacted by T1D through comprehensive education, compassionate support, and vital resources, all aimed at significantly improving their quality of life.
Our board consists of individuals who either have T1D themselves or have a close family member with the condition. We understand the complexities of T1D firsthand and are committed to helping others navigate this journey.
T1D can affect every aspect of life, especially for children, and managing it can be overwhelming. Thriving with T1D requires more than just insulin—it requires access to essential education, advanced technology, and strong support systems. From diabetes coaching and T1D summer camps to continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) and life-saving insulin, these tools are crucial for improving the quality of life for those with T1D. However, they can be expensive and out of reach for many.
That’s where Team Kaylee (TK) steps in. We provide financial assistance to ensure that every individual and family affected by T1D has access to the support they need. We ease the burden of managing T1D so that children and families can focus on what truly matters—living life fully.
With the right support and education, individuals with T1D can achieve their full potential. TK.Type1 is here to help make that a reality.
